• Analyzing the Dynamics of Food Price Inflation: Causes, Impacts, and Policy Recommendations
As global economies continue to evolve, understanding the dynamics of food price inflation becomes imperative for policymakers, businesses, and consumers alike. The study delves into the intricate interplay of factors contributing to the fluctuation of food prices, encompassing both domestic and international dimensions. By shedding light on the consequences of food price inflation on vulnerable populations, market stability, and overall economic health, the research aims to inform evidence-based policy interventions. Ultimately, the findings seek to provide actionable insights for mitigating the adverse effects of food price inflation and promoting sustainable food security.
• Poverty in Mozambique and available arable lands.
The untapped lands which encompasses around 36 million hectares, and good agro-ecological circumstances.With an estimated population of 51,046 people, a significant proportion of its people are farmers. The agriculture sector is a national priority and a source of income for more than 70% of Mozambique's population. Moreover, the Mozambican agricultural industry exhibits significant prospects due to the country's vast untapped arable land, which encompasses around 36 million hectares, and good agro-ecological circumstances.Mabote is a district in Mozambique that is internationally recognized for cashew farming. With an estimated population of 51,046 people, a significant proportion of its people are farmers. However, many farmers are predominately engaged in subsistence farming, with limited access to financing, farming inputs, and product markets. This has led to an increase in poverty and a reduction in quality of life. With an average disposable income of 1.9 dollars daily, most people in Mabote cannot meet their daily needs. In addition, subsistence farming in Mabote means that the farmers cannot contribute to the country's export of cashew nuts, which has affected the government's earnings.
Through this intervention, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is assisting 200 farmers in the Mabote district to enter commercial farming by planting cashew nuts with pineapple as an intercropping, and the government will support them with farming inputs. The project seeks to increase the disposable income of the 200 selected farmers in the Mabote district to meet their daily needs. The project was appraised using an integrated investment approach consisting of financial, economic, stakeholder, and risk analyses.
• The impact of climate change on African subsists
The unpredicted changes in weather have caused frequent floods and destructive hurricanes in some regions but droughts and extreme heat waves in other areas. Changes in global ecosystems influence natural resources and agriculture. Nowadays, climate change is a significant concern in both developing and developed nations in terms of air pollution, food production and availability or insecurity, water contamination and scarcity.
• Impacts of Natural Disasters, Food Security, and Policy Measures south Asian countries.
The research provides essential policy implications for addressing food security challenges. It suggests prioritizing investment in domestic agriculture and reducing dependence on cereal imports to foster self-sufficiency.
• Investment appraisal of a solar plant using a seasonal hydro storage dam for maintaining electricity service reliability
The financial and economic levelized cost of the integration of a solar plant and seasonal storage dam are utilized. The Pwalugu Multi-Purpose Dam project and 50MW Solar Hybrid Dam projects are the focus of this study.Using the levelized cost of supplying electricity from the plants.
Current National Projects
• Integration of Renewable and Natural Gas Electricity Generation in Northern Cyprus: Economic and Environmental Analysis
To achieve the minimum-cost strategy to produce electricity in the short term (operation) and long term (capacity expansion) in Northern Cyprus. To advance an optimal power generation mix and minimize environmental costs through computational tools, namely Stochastic Dual Dynamic Programming (SDDP), OptGen, and Time Series Lab (TSL).
• Toward the Green Power System in Northern Cyprus
This study aims to develop an optimal model by simulating different cost-effective scenarios (state-of-the-art) to displace thermal power plants with the integration of Pumped-storage hydropower (PSH) into the Northern Cyprus power system.
• Biogas
Sustainable development of biogas technology for energy production via the use of animal waste, predominantly chicken and cow waste, is assessed. To produce the methane gas for generating electricity in an attempt to build a financially viable economically sustainable and environmentally friendly project in Northern Cyprus.
• Water
To assess the cost of sewage water treatment and the benefits that the treated water can bring to indigenous crops growing in Cyprus. Particularly, sludge sewage water desalination is used in farming(agriculture) - or poultry(cattle).
• Wine Production
The preference of Cypriot is key in determining the market demand and elasticity for local production of wine. Locally produced wine may have more demand when it is offered at higher quality and at a reasonable price, underpinning consumer surplus. In addition, collective or synchronized production of grapes is required to increase the quality and quantity of the wine produced locally. Thus, the study estimates the willingness of the farmers to participate in collective wine production.
