Romanian Ambassador Meets with Students at CIU
Cyprus International University (CIU) hosted a conference titled "Turbulence and Change in the International Order," with the participation of Romania’s Ambassador to Cyprus. The conference, attended by faculty members and students, focused on emerging technology and the changing global order. The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which Ambassador Dr. Dan Mihalache stated, “Looking at the 30 years from the personal computers of 1992 to today’s artificial intelligence, we can say that AI will be a bigger turning point in history than even the Industrial Revolution.”
Expressing his pleasure in being at the university, Mihalache remarked, “The globalized world is interconnected through communities, cultures, and experiences. Universities are also meeting points of cultures.” He described the diverse audience of students from around the world as ‘incredible,’ noting that this diversity made the conference a truly intellectual experience. Mihalache thanked CIU’s administration and Prof. Dr. Sertaç Sonan, who organized the event.
Amina Nuralisho, President of the International National Relations Club, described meeting Ambassador Dr. Dan Mihalache as a privilege, saying, “His seminar provided an in-depth look at the changing dynamics of the modern international system and the challenges defining our age.”
The Club President highlighted that the Ambassador emphasized how technological developments have become not just a tool for progress, but a transformative force shaping global politics, security, and diplomacy. This remark resonated deeply, underscoring the interconnectedness of technology and international relations, and how future policymakers must be prepared to navigate this evolving reality.
