CIU Ranked in the 651–700 Band in the THE 2027 Rankings
Cyprus International University (CIU) has been ranked in the 651–700 band worldwide in the 2027 World University Rankings announced by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s leading higher education ranking organizations.
In THE’s 2027 assessment, CIU received a score of 82.8 in Research Quality and 83.5 in International Outlook. Research Quality accounts for 30 percent of the overall assessment in the THE World University Rankings. This category takes into consideration not only the citation impact of publications, but also research strength, research excellence, and research influence.
CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Erbuğ Çelebi stated that the results are an indication of the University’s work in the areas of research and internationalization, emphasizing the importance of the score achieved in Research Quality. Çelebi said, “Achieving a score of 82.8 in Research Quality is important to us. As a university, we place importance not only on increasing the number of publications but also on the quality of our research and its impact on the international scientific community. In the coming period, we will further diversify the opportunities we provide to our academics and researchers so that they can advance their scientific work. Developing international research partnerships, encouraging collaboration across different disciplines, and increasing our students’ involvement in research processes will also be among our priorities.”
Çelebi stated that results in international rankings are important for monitoring the University’s development, adding, “We view our position in the rankings as an outcome. Our primary goal is to continuously improve the quality of our education and research and to increase the contribution of the knowledge we produce to the scientific community and society.”
The results demonstrate that CIU’s efforts in the areas of research quality and internationalization are reflected in international higher education assessments.
