CIU Demonstrates Remarkable Success in Robotics
Cyprus International University (CIU) students achieved great success in the Fibonacci Robot Olympics Aegean Region Championship held in Izmir. In the organization where more than 100 teams competed in 26 different categories, two teams from CIU Faculty of Engineering won first place in their categories and qualified to participate in the Championship in Türkiye.
While the projects prepared were under the academic supervision of the Department of Computer Engineering Lecturer Mustafa Kemal Ambar, they revealed CIU's strength in the field of engineering and robotics, and the solutions developed by the students with an innovative perspective attracted great attention in the competition.
"Cyprus Thunderstorms" team was composed of the following students: Umut Sevinç, Furkan Uzun and Alper Yüksel. They won first place in the Line Follower Robot category with their robot that stood out with its sensitive movement ability and innovative design. The jury members appreciated the team's engineering approach and concentration on technical details.
"Cyprus Hawks" team consisting of Mert Yorulmaz, Mert Aktan Çeliker and Melih Yurt came first in the Maze Solving Robot category with their robot that could successfully analyze complex labyrinth structures and solve them in a short time. The algorithm and mechanical design developed by the team made them stand out from their competitors in the competition.
While this success demonstrates the competence of CIU students in the fields of engineering and robotics, the teams are now continuing their work to prepare in the best possible way for the Championship to be held in Antalya.
